The main thing is that thick tire

GTFO of my head, Sampsonite24.
Me: Your wife just made you buy an Explorer that you don’t even like and have already spent more than its sale price in parts and repairs.
Also me: Looking at
Modular V8 swaps.

My wife keeps checking that we are getting the car option that does not make me instantly replace the wheels and tires. The more I look at the wheels, and think about how a slightly more aggressive tire might be good for forest roads, the harder it is to respond with, “yes.”
I have already made it clear that I plan to install largely unnecessary auxiliary lights, though, and probably other minor things. So she is resigned to that reality.

They look great with a little lift and bigger tires.

so no joke the trans in our explorer went out (which is why we also bought the expedition) , so we will be fixing that eventually, but if the motor goes down im totally going to try and pull a coyote motor out of a wrecked F150 to swap in

I just HATE chrome wheels, and thats what our expedition came with, 20" chrome wheels.

If you’re going to mod it, do it early and get the best return on your “investment”. That’s why I normally get the window tint done on my new purchases as soon as I have plates. Now I’m 3 years in on my S8 and still no window tint, now I can’t justify the expense as I typically Jones for something different after about the 3 year mark. But oh well.
We waited for new wheels on our Pacifica so we could burn up the first set of OEM tires. But we’re keeping the van for as long as possible anyway so I wasn’t concerned. But the earlier you mod, the easier to justify.

If the Expedition came with a Coyote 5.0 I wouldn’t have just bought a Yukon. I most likely would have bought the Expedition. Didn’t want a 5.4L and I didn’t want an EcoBoost.

My big thing was we wanted a 3rd row that folds flat into the floor, And the big GMs don’t offer that. That said I'd love to do a coyote motor swap if the Triton ever goes out.

I get the fold flat floor thing I wish the yukon did that. It does have the advantage of the 3rd row being fully removable if I needed to. Coyote swap would be bad ass.
I really just don’t get why it wasn’t an option in the Expedition to begin with. It obviously bolts right up because it’s just an F150 under that big wagon body.
